Social Media Promotion — Successful Artists keep fresh content coming. An LW Music Business Consultant, Author and Speaker Video Blog.

Quick question for you, what are the last ten things you have posted on Facebook? On Twitter? Or on any of your social media sites. Better yet when it comes to social media promotion, fresh content and your music advertising, what is the first ten things people see on your social networks?

Is the content coming from a place of branding, promoting and marketing the band, the songs, the shows and the merch or is it just strings of humor posts that give a stranger to your page or pages no idea who you are, what you are about, what you sound like and what you have to sell?

The best tips for bands or industry tips as a whole these days seem to tie in greatly to social media promotion but one step further beyond that is looking at what it is you are actually promoting on social media.

Keep the content coming and make the content fresh. You can add other aspects, share things from other bands but keep the foundation about you and what you are trying to get out there.

I have seen a lot of pages where the bands seem to just assume the visitor is going to dig to find information. In many cases, it just isn’t true.

Make sure your band, your brand, your product and your music is the key part. Intertwining posts of pictures, videos and blogs that connect people with information, tag lines and links to you, your music and your store.

Try to keep your walls some what clean, so if that new visitor shows up, they can easily access you and your information, not all the adds, the check ins, the humor shares and other posts that take the focus off you.

In the end, I really think it can be a better thing to have that personal page if you want to post the bulk of that stuff and keep your music pages for your music, your promotion, shows, videos, samples, photos and items that serve as the social media promotion tools to get you out there more connected, more interactive, more networked and better advertised to maintain the interest of the existing fan, while drawing the interest from a new one.
