How To Speed Up Your Web Development Process Using LESS
Less is dynamic stylesheet language that allows to extend the CSS language with great features such as variables, mixins and nesting. You can even do math with LESS. This screencast will show you how powerful the LESS language can be. In How To Speed Up Your Web Development Process Using LESS, you will learn to write better CSS and improve your web development workflow.
In the first section, you will start by learning how to define variables and mixins as re-usable objects, meaning that LESS allows to cut down on code, keep your code DRY (Don’t Repeat Yourself) and organized. From there, you will learn about Nesting, and how to use nested rules with multiple CSS selectors. Finally, I will teach you how to do mathematical calculations with the operators.
The second section of the training is project-based and included the customization of a webpage
You will first be introduced to SimpLESS, which is is a Graphical User Interface (GUI) allowing you to easily compile your LESS files into standard CSS. SimpLESS is simple to learn for first-time users. You will be guided through the installation and the features.
This part of the screencast will help you understand how to to easily create maintainable CSS using the LESS features. Working files are included allowing you to follow along with the instructor.
By the end of this short tutorial, you will have a basic understanding of how to write CSS with LESS.
